A fantastic day for the second Harris Mountain Festival Hill Race on the Reinigeadal footpath.

New course records for former Scottish Champion for both Hill Running and Marathon Kate Jenkins and her husband Craig Mattocks who as predicted broke the 70min mark.

Duncan Mckellar did give Craig a wee fright on the zig-zag descent with Anesti from Ness(a man who was once considered to be about the fastest downhiller in Scotland) keeping up the pressure in third. Craig proved too strong from the first descent onwards and didnt even look as though he was pushing himself on the climb back out the village.

Good to see runners from as far away as Leicester participating, although I think SRAC runner Stephan Smit was the person most pleased with his performance.

After race entertainment was provided by the Mountain Festival 'Raft Race' A big thanks to North Harris Ranger Matt Watts and the Langley family of Reinigeadal for helping to make this race happen'
