The "Real Whackey" Races 2012

Beinn A Mhuil: 340m / 5km
Sat December 15th

Loch Shiphoirt from Beinn A Mhuil. Eilean Shiphoirt and Caiteseal on left and Toddun in distance.

Excellent day on Saturday for the first of the Real Whackey Races and I’ll thank the original ‘Wacky Racers’ for giving me such  an inspirational title for this series. Clear but very icy underfoot on top part of hill. Duncan MacKellar again showed his hill running talent coming home first in 26.33 and collecting the non-existent prize for first junior. Myself in 2nd place in 31.45, Gavin Earons taking the equally non-existent V50 prize in 35.54 with Spike trotting back in 45.55.

A very good natured get together. Next ‘Real’ Whackey Race will be at Ferishal on 19/1, same distance and climb to Beinn A Mhuil but very very different underfoot conditions and I’ve had a request from a guy who lives in Ness who won the Scottish Championship hill race at Glenn Rosa on Arran back in 99 to go and do a reccee of the route on Sat 5 at midday, so if any of you want to come along you can meet myself and Anesti at midday at Seaforthhead on 5/1 and find out what proper running is about.
